AllianceDFA is pleased to announce the appointment of John Patrick (J.P.) Ellis, Vice Chair of the Indonesia Fintech Association (AFTECH), to the AllianceDFA Board.

J.P. brings more than 20 years of experience building businesses, products and teams across digital finance, technology and strategy, with a particular focus on Indonesia and Southeast Asia. His experience spans financial services, fintech, insurtech, technology and business building, alongside extensive work with industry associations and regulators.

J.P. currently leads digital insurance strategy and transformation work within Chubb’s regional business, with a focus on Indonesia. Previously, he was an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company, where his work included financial services strategy, business building and QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey. He has also advised OpenAI on ChatGPT market localisation and growth.

Across his career, J.P. has founded, built and advised businesses across the fintech and insurtech ecosystem, including SME financing and digital lending marketplaces, credit scoring and financial analytics, credit decisioning software, digital insurance and creator economy platforms. His experience also includes a significant leadership role within Indonesia’s fintech ecosystem. J.P. is a co-founder and currently Vice Chair of the Indonesia Fintech Association (AFTECH), having previously served on its Operating Board and as Chair of its Ethics Board.

J.P.’s path into digital finance began with field anthropology and community-based development in Indonesia, before moving into private equity, investing and technology. He has spent much of the past two decades working in Indonesia and across Southeast Asia, giving him a particularly strong understanding of how digital finance ecosystems develop and the importance of collaboration between industry, policymakers and other stakeholders.
